Certification Director
NativState continues to grow and our projects now exceed 700,000 acres and serve more than 650 landowner partners. Each property is enrolled in FSC or SFI, creating a need for increased coordination with foresters, certifying organizations, and landowners. As NativState’s Certification Director you will be responsible for overseeing and managing forest certification programs to ensure compliance with internationally recognized standards. The position serves as a technical expert, coordinator, and liaison among forest managers, landowners, auditors, certification bodies, and internal teams.
- Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of forest certification systems.
- Manage certification audits (initial, surveillance, and re-certification), including planning, preparation, and follow-up.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable certification standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor changes in certification requirements and assess implications for forest operations.
- Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and gap analyses.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and certification data.
- Coordinate with forest managers, contractors, landowners, and other stakeholders.
- Registered Forester.
- In-depth knowledge of forest certification programs.
- Program level direct experience with FSC and/or SFI on large acreages.
- 10+ years experience in forest management, forest certification, sustainability, or auditing.
- Experience coordinating or participating in third-party audits.

Forest Management Director
NativState continues to grow and our projects now exceed 700,000 acres across multiple states and serve more than 650 landowner partners. The Forest Management Director provides strategic and operational leadership for all forest management activities and associated customer relations including FMP creation, landowner assistance, education, and communication.
- Leads forest management efforts across all enrolled projects.
- Technical expert on forest management.
- Directly supervises Regional Foresters in the day-to-day accomplishment of management goals.
- Develops and manages operational budget.
- Oversees documentation and reporting requirements.
- Works cross-functionally with carbon accounting, project development and GIS to deliver high-quality, investment-grade forest carbon projects.
- Registered Forester.
- 10+ years progressive forestry experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.

Management Forester
NativState continues to grow and our projects now exceed 700,000 acres across multiple states and serve more than 650 landowner partners. The role of a Management Forester is integral to NativState operations in ensuring landowners achieve their forest management objectives while maximizing the potential revenue from carbon offsets. Management Foresters will work with private landowners through all phases of planning, development, and implementation of forest management projects. The main goal of this position is to provide the potential for high value carbon offsets through sound, sustainable forest management recommendations.
- Significant landowner support through all phases of forest management.
- Conduct site visits.

- Create forest management, burn, and harvest plans.
- Work with certification bodies (ATFS, SFI, and FSC).
- Assist landowners with implementing silvicultural prescriptions and compliance checks, Assist with carbon verification and auditing.
- Present program information to various audiences, meet with prospective clients, and work with stakeholders.
- Travel approximately 25% of the time but may be required to travel more depending on project or company needs.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in forestry from an SAF accredited institution is preferred. Other closely related Natural Resource degrees will be considered if a substantial amount of coursework was in Forestry or if coursework is equivalent to SAF accrediting criteria.
- A minimum of 5 years professional experience in Forestry, Wildlife, Ecology, or similar field or a minimum of 5 or more years’ experience in planning and implementing silvicultural prescriptions such as prescribed fire, timber marking and harvesting, FSI, wildlife management, natural community restoration, invasive species management, and endangered species management.
- Candidates with at least 3 years of experience working with landowners and State/Federal Cost Share programs will be highly considered.
- High ethical standards and commitment to sustainable resource management.
The prospective candidate must possess, or be able to obtain during the first year of employment, the following if required for the state or states you will be working in:
- ATFS Certified Inspector
- Registered Forester License
- Certified Prescribed Burner certification
- CPR/First Aid
- ATV/UTV training
Among those already listed, the prospective candidate should also possess the following skills, abilities, or knowledge:
- GPS technology experience.
- Experience in ArcPro or similar mapping systems.
- Prescribed fire experience.
- Understanding of basic carbon sequestration processes.
- Ability to work in rugged, uneven, swampy, or hilly terrain.
- Ability to work alone for extended periods, if needed.
- Work among snakes, insects, and wildlife.
- Have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with common forestry and wildlife management practices.
Most work is conducted in LA and AR with remote options considered.

Forest Carbon Specialist (FCS) - California
NativState is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Forest Carbon Specialist (FCS) to help identify, manage, and close forest carbon opportunities in Northern California. The ideal candidate will combine strong project management skills with a background in forestry and experience in consultative or relationship-based sales. This is a high-impact role critical to helping NativState expand its carbon footprint while supporting private landowners in monetizing sustainable forest practices.
Identify and engage with private landowners and forestry consultants to promote participation in NativState’s carbon programs (IFM, etc.).
Manage the full lifecycle of a project, from initial outreach to signed agreements and project handoff.
Coordinate with internal teams (GIS, legal, finance) to move landowner deals through the pipeline efficiently.
Maintain and update CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot) to track all communications, leads, and progress.
Conduct site visits, assessments, and presentations as needed.
Understand and articulate the benefits and technical elements of forest carbon offset projects.
Help shape regional outreach strategy and contribute feedback to refine processes.
- Bachelor’s or Associate Degree.
- 3+ years of professional experience in forestry, land management, or carbon-related roles.
- Demonstrated success in a sales or client-facing role, ideally involving long sales cycles or consultative selling.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with landowner challenges, forest management practices, and the basics of carbon markets.
- Ability to work independently and travel regularly within Northern California, especially Humboldt County and the Arcata/Eureka area.
This position will be remotely located, ideally within Humboldt County California, or near the Eureka or Arcata areas.

Forestry Team
Forestry is foundational to NativState’s success, so we want to meet foresters who not only excel in their field but also come with the skills and curiosity to establish trusting, transparent relationships with landowners. You will work closely with our GIS and Forest Carbon teams on forest inventory and carbon modeling and help create plans for carbon management unique to each property. Your expertise will guide the development and implementation of forest management plans, ensuring the future of high-quality nature-based carbon credits and the future of wildlife habitat and water quality.
We’re looking for registered foresters (or candidates) to be part of a movement addressing global climate concerns through sustainable forest management with small forest landowners. You are forward- thinking and eager to learn and expand your knowledge of the Voluntary Carbon Market. You enjoy establishing working relationships with landowners and have a track record of trust-building with your clients.

Forest Carbon Analyst
Our Carbon Forest team is at the forefront of NativState’s mission. Our contributions are essential to measuring and modeling projections of forest carbon. Together with our GIS and Forestry teams, we assess, develop, and prepare for the verification of high-quality carbon credits. As a member of the Forest Carbon team, you will help develop high-quality carbon credits for our buyers, returning significant value to our landowner partners.
At NativState we’re looking for team members with curiosity, drive, and integrity. We are looking for individuals with a full range of skills to process, calculate, analyze, and digest raw and finalized forest carbon data. Our Forest Carbon team works together with the GIS and Forestry teams to develop long-term forest carbon projections and collaborates with internal and external partners on carbon development plans.
