NativState is a forest carbon development company dedicated to connecting small, private forest landowners in the southern United States with global carbon markets. We advocate for a market-based approach that aligns landowners’ interests with companies seeking high-quality nature-based carbon credits to meet their climate commitments.
With a sharp focus on landowner aggregation and sustainable management practices, NativState creates highly additional removal and reduction carbon credits through dynamic baselines within the “timber basket.” This region is the most robust timber and wood products industry in the country which means nearly every forested acre could have a different fate.
Customers can count on every NativState project to have an extra layer of integrity, trust, and additionality.
NativState chooses to work with smaller to medium-sized landowners in the southern U.S. Unlike forests on public lands in the western U.S., these lands are privately owned, and the industrial infrastructure and markets for forest products in the region cause forests to be at high risk of carbon loss due to industrial timber harvesting. These landowners are stewards of these critical climate resources but are often at pinch points due to financial pressures. The southern U.S. “timber basket” harvests massive volumes, accounting for over 55% of the country’s timber volume, with millions of acres logged annually.¹
Our team of scientists, engineers, foresters and land managers, many of whom are landowners, know this region and the timber industry well. We recognize the carbon resource that can offer alternatives to landowners who want to diversify their management plans with voluntary conservation projects.
Prior to European settlement, this area had one of the highest levels of landscape biodiversity of any ecoregion in Arkansas. This property parallels both sides of the Ouachita River, primarily comprised of contiguous fertile bottomlands. It is important to the Gulf Coast Watershed and provides vital habitat for migratory birds and, except for elk, every game species within Arkansas.

Each of our projects have a data room for clients under NDA with in-depth overviews ready to share with your company to expedite the due diligence process.
NativState is currently evaluating and enrolling acres across our core operation region in our afforestation, reforestation and revegetation (ARR) program.
With our team of carbon modeling experts, foresters, GIS professionals, landowner partners and more, we will vastly increase the number of removal credits on the market—each uphold to third-party audits and are verified by Verra.
