An Arkansas native, Stuart founded NativState to foster environmental stewardship among small landowners, deliver scale to industry partners, and present new revenue opportunities in emerging carbon markets. Prior to NativState, Stuart’s passion for identifying, developing, and delivering market-driven solutions resulted in the development of several startup companies, which he led before successfully divesting. Before branching out on his own, Stuart started his professional career as an engineer for Southwestern Energy, a leader in both natural gas development and the first company in the energy space to become water neutral throughout their operations.
Stuart supports several conservation organizations, including Delta Waterfowl, Ducks Unlimited, and National Wild Turkey Federation. He is a proud graduate from the University of Central Arkansas with a B.S. in biology and economics, as well as a B.S. in petroleum engineering from Colorado School of Mines. Stuart and his wife Katherine have four children and enjoy watching them experience the outdoors on their property in the Arkansas River Valley.
